According to reports, Arsenal is interested in signing Sacha Boey, a forward targeted by Newcastle who just stated he turned down a transfer to Celtic in 2021.
Apparently, Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen his full-back position, thus the Gunners are interested in a deal for the Frenchman, as reported by Tutto Mercato Online.
Turkish Football reports that Boey, who can play on either the right or left side of the defence, is another player Newcastle is interested in signing.
Every Market Internet rumour has it that Arsenal made an offer for the 22-year-old in January, but it was turned down. The Italian media reports that Boey is “dominating” in the Süper Lig for Galatasaray at the moment.
The No. 93 for Galatasaray has played 20 games and contributed two assists in Turkey’s premier division so far this season. Boey, interestingly enough, confessed in July 2021 that he had turned down a transfer to Celtic in favour of joining the Turkish giants.
The France Under-20 international said: “Celtic wanted to sign me. I had to make a decision. I chose Galatasaray because it was a bigger club. That’s why I chose Galatasaray.”
Two of the top six teams in the Premier League, Arsenal and Newcastle, have shown an interest in signing Boey, so the risk seems to have paid off.
Boey is said to be close to signing a new deal with Galatasaray, which might be seen as bad news for Arsenal by the French publication Foot Mercato.
Supposedly, though, the defender’s new agreements contain a release clause worth just €14m (£12m). As compared to other clubs of Arsenal’s magnitude, that is a very reasonable price.
Boey would presumably also want a transfer to the Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal now lie five points ahead at the top of the Premier League and would almost certainly play in the Champions League next season. Keeping an eye on this scenario is important since it seems that Edu may easily relocate over the summer.
