AC Milan Transfer News: AC Milan is said to be giving Barcelona serious competition in the hunt to recruit Benjamin Pavard
AC Milan Transfer News: Mundo Deportivo, a Spanish sports news website, claims that AC Milan is interested in signing Benjamin Pavard. The Serie A powerhouses have the resources to match the Frenchman’s €7 million annual salary. However, the Rossoneri will have to compete with Barcelona for the services of the versatile defender.
Benjamin Pavard has distinguished himself at Bayern Munich and for France by playing a variety of defensive positions. The 27-year-old has previously won the World Cup, having helped Les Bleus reach the final in 2018. Since his transfer to Bayern from VfB Stuttgart in July 2019, his performance has only improved.
There is still a little over a year remaining on the French utility defender’s €7 million per year deal with Bayern Munich. Pavard, however, has not let the uncertainty of his future affect his play, as seen by his seven goals and one assist in 38 games. The scenario involving the adaptable defender has, however, raised red flags at Barcelona and AC Milan.
Barcelona has been keeping tabs on the Frenchman for quite some time. It comes as no surprise that Barcelona is looking to acquire the services of Bayern Munich’s versatile defender. That’s because, since Dani Alves’s initial contract expired, the club has had a hard time settling on a permanent replacement for the Brazilian star. Joan Laporta also wants Barcelona to add a right back to the roster this summer.

Thus, a number of right-backs have come to the attention of Barcelona. The 27-year-old Pavard is interested in playing for Barcelona, making him a realistic target. The 27-year-old’s salary of €7 million per year is too much for the Blaugrana to pay. This makes AC Milan a serious contender in the race to sign him.

The Italian league champions have a significantly stronger financial position. And AC Milan can easily afford to pay him €7 million a year on a multiyear deal. Meanwhile, given Sergino Dest’s troubles, it’s easy to see why the Rossoneri could be interested in Pavard. The Bayern Munich defender has risen to prominence as a result of the impending return of the United States national team player to Barcelona.
The 27-year-old is versatile enough to play centre defence for AC Milan. However, it will not be easy for the Serie A winners to make it into the UEFA Champions League. Moreover, if they are unsuccessful, Barcelona will once again be in a position of strength to recruit the French international.
