AC Milan, a powerhouse in Italy’s Serie A, wants to bring in Spurs winger Dejan Kulusevski
Calciomercatoweb reports that AC Milan is interested in acquiring the services of Dejan Kulusevski. The 22-year-old has a chance to rejoin Serie A in time for the next season. The Italian giants have taken notice, and they may make a move to sign him during the next summer transfer window.
Back January 2016, Kulusevski enrolled at Atalanta’s youth academy. He worked his way up through the club’s system and is now a regular on the first team. Juve, a powerhouse in Italy’s Serie A, signed him during the offseason of 2020-2021 due to his stellar play.
Once Juventus sent him on loan, he eventually returned. The 22-year-old finally saw some playing time after returning to his first club. Nevertheless, he was unable to establish himself as a regular and was loaned to Tottenham in the next winter of 2022.
On a loan for 18 months with an option to purchase, Kulusevski signed with Spurs. Last summer, the London club had the option to sign him for €30 million. But, they ultimately decided against it. And now the €35 million required purchase clause may take effect.
If Spurs achieves Champions League qualification and the Swedish international participates in 50% of Premier League matches for at least 45 minutes, the clause will become active. Probability of the purchase requirement being implemented is high.
In recent weeks, though, the 22-year-old’s performances have dipped. Furthermore, it has been suggested that he would depart as well if Antonio Conte does. The future of the Swedish international has grown questionable due to Conte’s impending exit.
Kulusevski’s position with Spurs has also being monitored by AC Milan. They want to begin contract negotiations with the young winger soon. There has not been the same level of consistency from Stefano Pioli’s squad as there was last year. Even though they advanced to the quarterfinals of the Champions League, Pioli is certain that they will need to make some roster changes this offseason.
The Italian coach really wants to get the 22-year-old into his team. Milan is desperate for offensive assistance, and they think they’ll get some with the addition of Kulusevski. But they aren’t planning to make a long-term commitment to him just yet. The Serie A team is interested in loaning him out with a buyout clause. Thus, it will be fascinating to see whether the Italian giants can sign the 22-year-old in time for the next season.
