Luis Suarez claims Neymar’s decision to move to PSG was a huge mistake
Luis Suarez reveals himself, and Lionel Messi tries to persuade Neymar to remain.
Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., and Luis Suarez established one of the most devastating front threes in sport. The trio dominated wherever they went, scoring a total of 364 goals. They guided FC Barcelona to two La Liga titles, three Copa del Rey victories, and one Champions League triumph. Unfortunately, the trio was reduced to a duet as Neymar moved to PSG for a record-breaking €222 million in 2017.
Six years later, Luis Suarez spoke up about the Brazilian’s departure. Clank claimed in an interview that he and Messi attempted to persuade Neymar Jr. to stay, but he chose to accept PSG’s offer. Suarez went on to say that the three were great friends who also worked well together on the pitch. He stated that there was a gap in the team as soon as the Brazilian left.
Neymar struggled at PSG owing to injuries and absences. Suarez departed Barcelona in 2020 to join rival Atletico Madrid. He joined Gremio after a brief stint with Nacional. Lionel Messi was forced to quit Barcelona owing to the club’s financial difficulties. He rejoined Neymar in 2021 before departing for Inter Miami in 2023.
“We were very good friends, and we knew if we fulfilled our roles on the pitch, we would make Barcelona great. If one of us did not play well, the other two would make the difference. It was a spectacular relationship. We told him it was a mistake to go to PSG. If Ney wanted to be the best, he had to stay by Leo’s side. But, he made his decision, and it left a void in the team”

Luis Suarez speaks about Inter Milan’s move
Suarez has been strongly connected with Inter Miami, with many speculating that a reunion with Messi is on the cards. In the same interview, Clank stated that he didn’t know what his future contained, but that he needed to rest. Suarez most recently played for Gremio, where he scored 26 goals and assisted 11 times in 53 games. He still has a year left on his contract, but numerous sources indicate that he may leave shortly.
“At the moment, what I want is to rest. I talked to my lawyer about a couple of things and hopefully it will happen. For now, Leo Messi doesn’t want me to go. I don’t know where I’m going to play, I need to rest and enjoy what I’ve achieved during this time”
