Cafu claimed the Premier League to be most overhyped league, reducing the chances of Brazil’s winning the FIFA World Cup
Cafu says that the media has influenced players into believing that the Premier League is the best.
The Premier League is often recognized as one of the greatest in the world. Players want to join teams such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, and other English behemoths to play alongside the greatest. In today’s market, England is considered the greatest destination, with even mid-table clubs bringing in talents from other leagues.
However, Cafu, a Brazilian legend, sees a negative aspect of this English migration. He thinks that if more of his compatriots join the Premier League, the country would do poorly in World Cups. Brazil has won five World Cups, the most recent in 2002.
They have yet to make it to the finals since then, with their best showing coming in 2014. They made it to the semi-finals before being defeated 7-1 by eventual winners Germany. They came in fourth place at the World Cup. Cafu told journalist Ibrahim Sannie Daara that if players continue to leave Brazil for England, Brazil’s chances of winning the World Cup will diminish. He went on to say that the media has indoctrinated players into believing the Premier League is the finest in the world.
Cafu stated, “I am afraid, the more we have Brazilians moving to the Premier League, the fewer chances for Brazil to win the World Cup. “
