Roma registered a thumping win over Empoli in their fourth match of the Serie A 2023/24 season. The Jose Mourinho coached side displayed quality performances on the field to achieve their first win of this league season. The team undoubtedly was the better of the two sides as they created more significant chances and capitalised on them more often than their opponents. Following this win, Roma are now placed 12th in the league table with 4 points to their name in as many matches.
The game began with both the sides seeking their chances to gain some momentum early on in the match. It took Roma just two minutes to open the scoring via a penalty kick. Paulo Dybala found the top left corner confidently to give Roma the lead early on. It was in the 8th minute that Roma doubled their lead almost instantly.
A fine cross by Rasmus Kristensen found Renato Sanchez who headed the ball precisely past the keeper into the back of the net. Roma has their third in the 35th minute following an own goal by Alberto Grassi who mistakenly poked it past his own keeper.
The second half began and with it continued Roma’s dominance. Roma bagged their fourth in the 55th minute as Dybala found Cristante’s pass inside the box. The Argentinian smashed in a precise shot to find the bottom left corner brilliantly. Roma couldn’t stop scoring as they added another in the 80th minute. Cristante this time was the scorer as he smashed in a screamer from outside of the box after being assisted by Belloti.
Lukaku scored his first goal for Roma shortly after in the 82nd minute after finding a fine throughball by Belloti and following it up with a calm finish past the keeper. Gianluca Mancini wrapped up the game with Roma’s 7th and final goal of the match as he scored a header from close range from a pass by Cristante following a corner kick. FT:- Roma 7-0 Empoli.
