Rodri has his say on Saudi Arabia’s impact on the football transfers as a whole
Saudi Arabian football has without a doubt been of great impact in the recent times. The entire footballing world has been vastly surprised by the tremendous growth that the Saudi Pro League and the clubs there as a whole have underwent in the recent past. The league has drawn the attention of several top notch players from all across Europe recently in the transfer window as a result of which the overall quality of Saudi Arabian football has skyrocketed to a great extent.
Players being offered huge salaries and other luxuries has resulted in their finding an option to make a move to Saudi Arabia a favourable one. Several star players namely Karim Benzema, Neymar Jr, Ngolo Kante, Riyad Mahrez, Sadio Mane. Amongst all the names, it was Cristiano Ronaldo in particular who deserves a certain bit of credit for having drawn the world’s attention towards the Saudi league after he signed for Al Nassr in December last year.
What followed was nothing short of a shock for the whole of football world since the Saudi Arabian transfer window saw loads of experienced players from all across the world join the league to make it a lot more intense one. However all of this sequence of events have drawn several negative remarks too recently. Spanish international Rodri has also given vent to his opinion in this regard. “It must be controlled in some way this drain of talent” he said. “It’s not just veterans in the twilight of their careers as there are young people now who are leaving. I respect all their decisions, but the people who take action must control this situation” added the midfielder.

The man City player basically meant to say that the scene initially involved veterans joining the league, but now it has moved onto a situation where players in their early twenties are also seeking their opportunity to join the league. This in turn is leading to some serious waste of talent as the player’s with lot of quality in their youth aren’t joining prestigious elite clubs in Europe and instead making a move to some random Saudi clubs.
