Elye Wahi is all set to join Ligue 1 club amidst offers from England and Germany
Montpellier player, Elye Wahi is closing in on a move to Ligue 1 club, Lens via this summer’s transfer window. The negotiations with respect to the player’s transfer were taking place over the past few days. The player who was being targeted by multiple club’s from across various clubs in Europe has eventually made up his mind to stay in France at last. The player’s move to his new club is being said to be a done deal as per the confirmations of several sources.
Elye Wahi to join Lens in a permanent deal
Fabrizio Romano via his official revelation let everyone know that Elye Wahi’s move to Lens has almost been completed. The deal with regard to the player’s transfer has been agreed to by both the French clubs. The package would be worth £35m as reported by the French sources. Personal terms have been agreed on five year deal. The medicals have been booked later today.
Elye Wahi who was born in 2003 began his senior career with French club, Montpellier in the 2020/21 season at the age of 17. He scored his first goal for the club in 2021 and has made 103 appearances for the side till date scoring 32 goals. The twenty year old has offers from other renowned clubs as well lately.
David Moyes’ West Ham were pretty keen to have Wahi included to their side. Meanwhile Frankfurt too had targetted the French international. Lens however emerged as frontrunners in signing the youngster in the end.
Lens have been in stellar form lately. The side finished second in the league last season finishing just below PSG in the table. With a total of 84 points in 38 matches the side remained just one point short of winning the league, but still managed to secure their position in the upcoming season’s Champions league.
The team’s major motto will be to continue their fine run of form in the league and also deliver impactful performances in the Champions League in the times to come. The onus will be on the team’s new signings including Elye Wahi to help the side achieve it’s objectives hereon.
