AC Milan: Is Ruben Loftus-Cheek on the way from Chelsea?
AC Milan is on the verge of securing the services of Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek on a long-term contract, according to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano. The 27-year-old has been a target for the Rossoneri for some time and they are now confident of finalizing a deal with the Blues.
Loftus-Cheek, who joined Chelsea as a youngster in 2004, has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at Stamford Bridge. He has spent most of his career on loan at various clubs, including Crystal Palace, Fulham and Leicester City. He has made 152 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 12 goals and providing 19 assists.
The England international is approaching the final year of his contract with Chelsea and the club are keen to cash in on him this summer. Chelsea have a policy of avoiding players entering the last two years of their deals and they are looking to sell some of their fringe players to raise funds for new signings.

Romano reports that AC Milan is close to agreeing on terms with Loftus-Cheek over a long-term contract
AC Milan have been impressed by Loftus-Cheek’s performances and potential and they see him as a key addition to their midfield. The Serie A giants have already signed former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori on a permanent basis after a successful loan spell and they hope Loftus-Cheek will follow in his footsteps.
Romano reports that AC Milan is close to agreeing on terms with Loftus-Cheek over a long-term contract, after direct contact started and revealed two weeks ago. Talks between Milan and Chelsea are ongoing to reach full agreement on fee. All parties are hopeful and optimistic, he adds.
Loftus-Cheek is said to be interested in joining AC Milan and testing himself in a different league. He would join a squad that finished second in Serie A last season and qualified for the Champions League for the first time since 2014. He would also work under Stefano Pioli, who has been praised for his management and tactics.
AC Milan are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next season and they have also been linked with other Chelsea players such as Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi. However, Loftus-Cheek is their priority target and they are hopeful of completing his signing soon.
