Several teams have shown interest in Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, including those coached by Ange Postecoglou and Unai Emery at Celtic and Aston Villa, respectively.
In an article published earlier this month, The Transfer Room said that Celtic, Aston Villa, and Leicester City are all interested in acquiring Kelleher from Premier League powerhouse Liverpool during the next summer transfer window.
Defending Kelleher, a goalkeeper for Liverpool, is being considered by Scottish Premiership winners Celtic as a possible long-term replacement for Joe Hart.
Should Emiliano Martinez go, Villa may pursue the Republic of Ireland international. Spurs have been linked to the former Arsenal goalie.
At this point, we have Fabrizio Romano’s opinion on how things stand with Kelleher at Liverpool.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp called the 24-year-old “absolutely insane” and “the best No.2 in the world” in an interview with The London Evening Standard in February 2022; however, according to the Italian journalist speaking with CaughtOffSide, Liverpool has not yet made a decision on the player’s future.
Former Premier League and UEFA Champions League champions, according to Romano, will not do so until the conclusion of the season. Kelleher is Liverpool’s backup goalkeeper, behind the Brazilian international Alisson.
Romano said: “Despite links about Caoimhin Kelleher and a possible move away from Liverpool, no decision has been made on this one yet, and it’s the same for Fabio Carvalho.
The club will decide on those situations/loans in May/June, also based on player’s preferences.”
