SPORT, a Spanish news site, said that Tottenham Hotspur would have to make a substantial offer for Barcelona to transfer Franck Kessie this summer.

The “terrific” star, who makes £199,000 per week, has not fared well at the Famed Camp Nou despite his high salary. Despite the Ivorian’s lacklustre performance thus far under Xavi, Antonio Conte’s team reportedly offered £20 million to sign him.

Spurs may be able to get Barcelona to part with Franck Kessie, only one year after the Catalan club bought him away from AC Milan.

But Antonio Cassano of Sempre Milan drew comparisons between the 26-year-old and Yaya Toure in his peak, the former AC Milan player has struggled to reproduce his accomplishments in Catalonia.

SPORT reports that Barcelona are not actively shopping Franck Kessie around just yet, but that a ‘dizzying’ offer from Tottenham may change their minds.

In addition, it has been suggested that Spurs made an effort to sign him in January. Catalan powerhouses are confident in the talented midfielder’s second-half performance and have no plans to let him depart just yet.

Spurs need a true playmaker despite Franck Kessie’s ability to provide goals and assists from a deeper place than the No. 6 where many of his opponents choose to put him.

The club simply does not have a single player who can create opportunities for the strikers from the centre of the pitch, with the exception of the “golden” Rodrigo Bentancur, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Given that it is evident that that is not Kessie, they would be better off moving on rather than spending a fortune on a player they do not now need.
