Liverpool, coached by Jürgen Klopp, and Tottenham Hotspur, managed by Antonio Conte, have both been connected to Mainz’s Anton Stach
Liverpool, coached by Jürgen Klopp, and Tottenham Hotspur, managed by Antonio Conte, have both been connected to Mainz’s Anton Stach. A number of teams, including Liverpool and Tottenham, are reportedly interested in acquiring Stach from Mainz during the next summer transfer window, as was reported by 90min last week.
Apparently, scouts from Liverpool, Newcastle, Tottenham, and West Ham United have all been keeping an eye on Stach as he plays for Mainz in Germany this season.
The article claims that the 24-year-old German international mostly plays as a number 6, but he is also capable of operating as a number 8 or a 10.
Now, in CaughtOffSide, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano shares his thoughts on where he sees Stach heading. Romano estimated a price tag of €18-20 million (£16-17.5 million) for the midfielder.
The journalist told CaughtOffSide: “Anton Stach is impressing with Mainz and we’re now seeing transfer rumours about a potential big move to the Premier League.
He’s a good player with value close to €18-20m, but at the moment honestly I’m not aware of his name being on Tottenham’s list.
No decision will be made by Tottenham on summer targets in February or March.”
With Mainz this season, Stach has played in the Bundesliga 14 times (starting 11 times) and five times (as a substitute). The midfielder has contributed to four total goals and three total assists in those games.
With Mainz in the Bundesliga last year, the German made 20 starts. Stach has a goal and six assists in those contests.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Liverpool is keeping tabs on Independiente Santa Fe central defender Kevin Mantilla, despite the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League champion may be unable to play in the United Kingdom due to work visa concerns.
