Kevin Mbabu’s reported interest from Manchester United and West Ham United has resulted in a heartfelt transfer to the Swiss club Servette

Kevin Mbabu’s reported interest from Manchester United and West Ham United has resulted in a heartfelt transfer to the Swiss club Servette. As reported by Fabrizio Romano on Saturday night, a deal for Mbabu to leave Fulham for Servette is moving forward.

According to Romano, the transfer is already a “done deal,” and Mbabu has already arrived in Geneva for a medical examination today. Mbabu has secured a loan departure from Fulham and will return to his hometown club in an emotional transfer till the end of the season.

Even though the transfer deadline for the Premier League has closed, Mbabu may still make his move since the Swiss transfer market does not expire until February 15th.

Mbabu, at 27 years old, began his professional career with Servette and left for Newcastle United in 2013. A decade later, Mbabu is poised to rejoin his old team in the hopes of getting his career back on track.

After three successful seasons in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg, Mbabu moved this summer to Premier League club Fulham. Mbabu’s transfer hasn’t worked out so well because he’s been playing second fiddle to Kenny Tete and now Fulham has added Cedric Soares, another right-back.

Even if it’s obvious that Marco Silva isn’t a huge admirer of the fast Swiss international, it hasn’t stopped interest from other Premier League teams. In January, TuttoMercatoWeb claimed that Manchester United was interested in signing Mbabu.

Diogo Dalot’s injury and the pursuit of Aaron Wan-Bissaka prompted Erik ten Hag to seek more right-back depth, and Mbabu was said to be a possible addition.

United did not make any moves to address the situation at right back, although they may be keeping an eye on Mbabu’s development at Servette.

In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, transfer guru Dean Jones said that West Ham United was also interested in a late move for Mbabu. This time, though, it was for nothing, and Mbabu will have to return to Servette if he wants to play first-team football.

Whether or whether this is a permanent change, Mbabu must make a good impression in Switzerland.
