Valon Behrami, a former midfielder for West Ham United, told Tuttomercatoweb that Sassuolo star Davide Frattesi might cost a price of £25 million, naming West Ham United as a possible destination.
The outspoken CEO of Sassuolo, Giovanni Carnevali, said on January 31 that an English club had made an “offer” for Frattesi on the last day of the winter transfer season. He refrained from identifying the club. Fans of Frattesi, an international player for Italy, are not few in Britain.
As reported by Tuttomercatoweb, these clubs include Brighton & Hove Albion, West Ham United, and Tottenham Hotspur. Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ivan Perisic, and Cristian Romero are just a few examples of Serie A immigrants who made significant contributions to Spurs during the Conte-Paratici period.
The 23-year-old Frattesi assaults the goal with a style reminiscent of a young Dele Alli, with bursts of play that are almost “Lampardian.” Frattesi has scored five goals from central midfield this season, second only to Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners’s seven.
And Behrami, who played for Italian clubs like Napoli, Lazio, and Fiorentina, thinks it’ll take a lot of effort to lure Frattesi away from the Mapei Stadium.
That’s just another way of arguing that the riches of the Premier League would make it impossible for even Italy’s greatest and wealthiest clubs to compete with the Rome-born juggernaut.
At West Ham, Frattesi shared the field with Gianluca Scamacca, a striker for the Hammers. Frattesi’s potential as a substitute for the transfer-rumored Declan Rice stems from his ability to provide energy and drive from the midfield, as well as a diverse set of skills.
