After defeating Arsenal in January, Amadou Onana made his devotion to Everton very plain

After defeating Arsenal in January, Amadou Onana made his devotion to Everton very plain. The Gunners were defeated by the Toffees, who were spurred by Sean Dyche when they visited Goodison Park on a Saturday afternoon.

James Tarkowski’s header gave Dyche’s team the victory in their first game under his leadership. After a hard-fought match, Everton deserved the victory that they had earned.

Idrissa Gueye, Abdoulaye Doucoure, and Amadou Onana, Everton’s central midfield trio, exemplified the team’s tireless effort and determination.

They were just excellent as a trio, completely neutralizing Arsenal’s midfield and securing the victory. Among the three, Onana was perhaps the most popular.

The Belgian had two assists, two tackles, a shot on goal, an interception, a clearance, a successful dribble, a shot blocked, and two wins in the air. At one point in the first half, Onana burst into the box and left Martin Odegaard in his dust.

Later in the second half, Onana won a throw-in for Everton and displayed his team spirit to the Toffees’ supporters by continuing to push the ball upfield.

The performance summed up exactly why Onana is so much sought after by Arsenal. It was claimed in January by Belgian transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri that Arsenal was expressing interest in signing the 21-year-old during the winter transfer window.

It was later revealed by Tavolieri that Chelsea had made an offer to sign Onana, but he had turned them down in favour of staying with Everton.

Although Arsenal may be interested in acquiring Onana this summer or possibly later on, the Brazilian’s current allegiance is with Everton and cannot be broken.

From the game on Saturday, Everton has released a video in which Onana makes a somewhat X-rated joke. The crowd at Goodison Park will go wild, and Onana will want to be the engine that keeps the Toffees in the Premier League.
