When former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood questioned star player Harry Kane whether he was going “soft” on Monday night, Kane replied he had a “virus” and explained why he was wearing a snood, gloves, and a cap during warm-ups.
At Craven Cottage on Monday night, Spurs beat Fulham 1-0 thanks to a goal from 29-year-old Harry Kane. Taking a ball at the outside of the penalty box, Kane cut inside before firing a low shot past Bernd Leno.
In his 21st game, Kane scored his 16th goal of the season in the Premier League. He’s up to 18 goals for the season. Because of this goal, Kane is now tied with Jimmy Greaves for the all-time Spurs record of 266 goals.
Even though Antonio Conte said Kane had a temperature, he played the whole game. Afterwards, Sherwood asked Kane whether he was becoming soft on the Premier League’s coverage of the game, and Kane said he was sick.
Sherwood asked: “Warming up, you had the hat on, snood, gloves, are you going soft or are you not well? Kane responded: “I had a terrible night’s sleep if I’m honest. I’ve got some sort of virus but thankfully I got through today”.
Sherwood threw the question of Kane’s future at him in an odd interview, and Kane responded by saying he is content for the time being but would “see what happens.” Kane defended himself effectively against inquiries from his former boss, proving what Conte had indicated.
True, Kane has been sick, but he still managed to play until the 96th minute when the final whistle blew, which speaks volumes about his dedication to Spurs. Thus, Kane is not adopting a “soft” stance.
