Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are preparing for a transfer fight to get Lisandru Olmeta, a promising young goalkeeper from Monaco
It has been reported by Footmercato that Premier League powerhouses Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United are keeping tabs on Monaco goalkeeper Lisandru Olmeta.
Though he has yet to make an appearance for Monaco’s senior team, the 17-year-old’s stellar play for the club’s junior squad has garnered him attention from clubs across the world. Several teams have shown interest in Olmeta since he played a key role in France’s 2021 U17 European Championship victory.
After Hugo Lloris announced his retirement from the French national team, the teenager was widely hailed as the ideal replacement. Despite having been handed his first professional deal by the French club, the teenager is expected to depart in the summer.
David de Gea’s future at Manchester United has been settled, with the Spanish goalkeeper being given fresh terms but a reduced salary. The English goalkeeper Jack Butland was just signed, however, he will be returning to Crystal Palace this summer.
Since Dean Henderson is not expected to remain United’s backup goalkeeper at Old Trafford, Olmeta may look to be a viable future possibility.
Though Kepa Arrizabalaga has done well in goal for Chelsea since replacing the injured Edouard Mendy, coach Graham Potter would like an improvement.
Co-owner Todd Boehly will need to spend more money on quality players if the Blues are going to regain their former glories at Stamford Bridge.
Ederson has capped off a stellar career as City’s starting goalkeeper. However, the Brazilian will be turning 30 in the summer of 202, so the reigning English champions should have a backup plan ready in case the Brazilian’s energy wanes in the coming years. Since the French youth will have to work his way up through the ranks at his prospective club, none of the three teams is expected to force him into the senior system.
