Tottenham and Chelsea in the run to sign the Juventus midfielder

Weston McKennie, a midfielder for Juventus, allegedly wants to leave the club this year to play for a more competitive team, such as Chelsea or Tottenham.

After leaving Juventus, Weston McKennie reportedly has his sights set on joining a top team, as reported by Calciomercato, an Italian publication. Therefore, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have a good chance of signing the 24-year-old.

For financial reasons, Juventus has decided to part ways with some of its star players. Over €250 million was lost by the Serie A powerhouses. McKennie may be sent home from Turin early to improve the company’s financial situation.

The former Schalke midfielder made a controversial move to Italy, joining a Serie A team on loan before the club made the transfer permanent.

However, things have not gone as McKennie had intended, as he has not been able to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup. But now, with injuries piling up, Massimiliano Allegri might use his knowledge.

Until Mattia De Sciglio and Juan Cuadrado are well enough to play again, McKennie might get some playing time. The Bianconeri, however, are ready to risk their sports project to sell the midfielder, thus they are open to offers.

Both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante are entering the last year of their respective contracts, leaving Chelsea in desperate need of a new midfielder. The West London club has been linked to many players, including McKennie.

Enzo Fernandez, an Argentine midfielder, is the most recent name to be linked with a transfer to Stamford Bridge. As things stand, however, it does not seem like an agreement will be reached. The player’s desire to join a top club has bolstered Chelsea’s position.

Antonio Conte needs some quick reinforcements as Tottenham wants to get into the top four. Having already surrendered the fourth place to Manchester United, the north London club will be in deep danger if they do not shore up their weaknesses in the next January transfer window.

Bidding war bells are likely to be rung, with Juventus seeking to get at least €30 million and Aston Villa slipping into the fray. Although Chelsea and Tottenham will have the upper hand in their pursuit of the youngster because of his desire to join a top club.
