Wout Weghorst Transfer News: Is he set to stay at Manchester United?
Wout Weghorst Transfer News: Dean Jones, who reports about transfers, says that the Dutch scorer could still have a long-term future in Manchester, even though there are worries about his performance.
Weghorst, who is 30 years old, came to the club on loan from Burnley, which is about to be promoted. He was asked to fill the spot left by Cristiano Ronaldo, who wanted to leave the club to play in Saudi Arabia.
Even though the 30-year-old forward, who is 6’6″ tall and has played well for the Netherlands at the World Cup, has just joined the Red Devils, he hasn’t really hit it off with them yet.
Weghorst hasn’t done much to excite since joining Manchester United in January. He’s only scored two goals, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be a regular at Old Trafford.
“I’d probably give it 50 per cent,” Jones told GiveMeSport.
“United like him in this setup because they believe he’s a big reason why Rashford has come into such top form this calendar year, but you’ve got to weigh that up with the fact that he doesn’t score enough goals,” he added.
Even though Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag recently dropped Wout Weghorst, his old coach, John van den Brom, still backs the centre-forward.

The Burnley loanee started all 19 of United’s first games after signing in January. The streak ended when he was put on the bench for last week’s game against Brentford. After winning again without Weghorst, the striker started as a replacement against Everton and didn’t play until it was clear Marcus Rashford couldn’t go on.
