Tottenham is interested in signing Barcelona forward Ferran Torres this summer
It has been rumoured that Tottenham is interested in signing Barcelona forward Ferran Torres this summer. The transfer would reunite Torres with manager Luis Enrique, who previously proclaimed Torres to be the finest crosser in La Liga.
This season has been a tough one for the 23-year-old Torres at Barcelona. This season, the dynamic forward who cost £48 million to acquire from Manchester City in January 2022 has started just 14 of 33 possible games, although contributed five goals. It’s a fierce battle for playing time at Barcelona.
Since his form has improved, Brazil’s Raphinha has been the team’s primary choice on the right wing. There are more players to consider, such as Ousmane Dembele and Ansu Fati. If a starting forward is needed, Robert Lewandowski is always the first pick. CMW claims Tottenham has “stepped forward” in its pursuit of Torres.
Spurs are interested in reuniting Torres with the former Spain boss. Both people have a solid familiarity with one another. The rumours about Torres dating Enrique’s daughter are true. Torres played in three of Spain’s four World Cup games in Qatar under Enrique, who has ties to Tottenham.
When Torres left Valencia for Manchester City in 2020, Enrique was gushing over him in an interview. In the aftermath of a match against Germany, Enrique praised Torres as a danger and one of the league’s top crossers.
If Tottenham were to hire Enrique, it would send shockwaves across the sports world. Tottenham needs to add to their striking depth this summer. It seems anticipated that both Lucas Moura and Arnaut Danjuma will be released.
Tottenham needs to add depth, but this time with a player who can go head-to-head with Son Heung-min, Richarlison, and Deki Kulusevski.
“Ferran Torres has been at a very high level, on both wings,” Enrique said in 2020, as per The Mail.
“A constant danger to the German defence. He is one of the players whose crosses are the best in LaLiga. I think he makes incisive passes,” he added.
