Tottenham Hotspurs are apparently interested in acquiring Adama Bojang, a striker for the Gambia who made waves during the AFCON U-20 Championship. Bojang is just 18 years old.

The Daily Mail reports that Spurs and Nottingham Forest are just two of many teams keeping an eye on the Steve Biko FC star after the Gambia’s stellar play in recent matches helped the West African country advance to the tournament’s semifinals.

Bojang scored a hat trick in Gambia’s 5-0 win over South Sudan, and the striker is now a frontrunner for player of the tournament honours. Later this week, Gambia will take on Nigeria, one of the tournament’s favourites, as the Scorpions try to reach the final for the first time in their nation’s history.

Spurs are among the teams keeping an eye on Bojang after the teenager’s impressive performance in the tournament, and the north London club may make an effort to recruit the striker during the next summer transfer window.

Gambia’s Bojang may be the continent’s most notable name to emerge out of the area of Western Africa that includes Senegal, the Ivory Coast, and Guinea.

And if the youngster does well against Nigeria in the semi-finals this week, Tottenham may have to engage in a bidding war with other clubs to capture Bojang, who is just 18 years old.

Spurs must do all in their power to acquire Bojang before any of their rival clubs do since scouts love tournaments like the AFCON U-20 because it provides them with a head start on signing some of the world’s most promising players. Given how impressive the 18-year-old striker has been for the Gambia in recent weeks, it’s not surprising that Forest is interested in acquiring Bojang, and it wouldn’t be surprising if other Premier League teams started keeping eyes on him as well.
