Tottenham Hotspur is considering hiring Paulo Fonseca to replace Antonio Conte as manager
The Times claims that Tottenham Hotspur is considering hiring Paulo Fonseca to replace Antonio Conte as manager.
The article claims that Conte may quit Tottenham when his contract with the North London club expires after the current campaign.
The Spurs are now looking for a successor. Fonseca is said to be one of the managers Tottenham is considering hiring.
The 50-year-old Portuguese manager is now leading Lille in France’s top division, Ligue 1. It has been reported by The Times that Fonseca is on Tottenham’s potential shortlist of managers to contact.
The source has said that Tottenham planned to recruit the current Lille manager in 2021, but the North London club’s General Director of Football, Fabio Paratici, “dropped out of the agreement for him” due to “concerns about his playing style”.
With “Paratici’s future at the club unknown with the potential of a global football suspension for his involvement in financial crimes at Juventus,” the Italian may not have the ultimate say over who succeeds Conte, according to the source.
In the summer of 2022, Fonseca took over as manager of Lille. Lille is now sixth in Ligue 1 with 45 points after 26 games, six points behind third-placed AS Monaco.
