Tottenham and Chelsea will compete in the summer to acquire Brighton star, Evan Ferguson
After a fantastic first season at the Amex, in which he scored four goals in 11 senior games, the Sun reports that Tottenham and Chelsea will compete in the summer to acquire Brighton star, Evan Ferguson.
The 18-year-old Ferguson has only made four appearances for Brighton in the first team at this level. One assist was all he could muster, and he couldn’t even score. But, Roberto De Zerbi’s trust in the Ireland star has been rewarded.
Ferguson has scored three goals and assisted on two more in seven Premier League appearances this year. The forward’s performance has been excellent, garnering him high praise and newfound attention.
For Ian Wright, Ferguson has been a complete game-changer. He has been exhibiting “really excellent awareness,” he remarked, and that has pleased him much. He is now also receiving attention. The Sun claims that both Tottenham and Chelsea will make transfers this summer.
Two-time Ireland international Ferguson is reportedly being eyed by Tottenham as a potential long-term successor for Harry Kane. If he moved to Chelsea, he’d get to work for Graham Potter again.
Ferguson has tremendous skill. A player who hasn’t been phased by playing in the Premier League. Although it was Potter who handed the Irish attacker his first professional start, it was De Zerbi who was instrumental in the player’s development.
Another instance of Brighton seeing raw potential, developing it, and then releasing it on the first team. On the other hand, he could be just another phenomenally successful star that Brighton bred and sold.
Should you remain a Brighton Seagull or go to Chelsea or Tottenham Hotspur? His best bet, it seems, is to remain in Brighton. If both teams offered a very high transfer price, though, he would almost certainly choose to join Spurs. Especially though he is the backup to Kane.
