Steven Gerrard reconsiders his favorite GOAT
Gerrard's position on the GOAT footballer appears to have shifted after coming to Saudi Arabia.
Former Liverpool star Steven Gerrard looks to have altered his mind about the Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Lionel Messi dispute. In an interview with the Saudi Pro League, the current Al-Ettifaq manager stated that Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player of all time, contradicting his earlier attitude on the subject.
In an interview with the Saudi Pro League, the Liverpool legend, who is presently linked with the Saudi side Al-Ettifaq, referred to Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player of all time. Gerrard emphasized the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s importance in the Saudi league.
Gerrard believes that the arrival of ‘The GOAT’ (Cristiano) in January was a watershed event for Asian football and that the 38-year-old Ronaldo still has a lot to contribute. Messi fans were disappointed by Gerrard’s latest comments since they appeared contradictory. Gerrard rated Messi as the finest player in the world back in April 2022.
However, when challenged about the ‘GOAT’ discussion by Gary Neville on the Overlap YouTube channel during Messi’s time at PSG, Gerrard, then coaching Aston Villa, named Messi the best player of all time once more.

Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi
The discussion about Messi and Ronaldo has raged on for years. They continue to break records and astound admirers with their abilities. Messi’s World Cup victory last year may have moved him ahead, while Ronaldo has yet to win the coveted title.
Despite the former captaining Argentina to a World Cup triumph in Qatar last year, the Messi vs Ronaldo argument is unlikely to die. In a recent interview, Liverpool veteran Steven Gerrard referred to former Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo as “the GOAT,” after earlier claiming that Lionel Messi was the superior player.
Messi and Ronaldo, both of whom have scored over 100 goals for their respective countries, have similar playing styles. Ronaldo joined Al Nassr from Manchester United in January 2022, while Messi is a Major League Soccer player for Inter Miami. For years, fans have been enthralled by the discussion over who is the greatest player of all time, fuelled by their extraordinary feats.
