Mikel Arteta has his say on both the Arsenal Goalkeeper’s options

Arsenal have been in fine form lately. The team’s manager – Mikel Arteta has also been doing his job perfectly as the team is achieving quality results one after the other in impossible matches. The team combination has seemed to be absolutely spot on in the recent past as the overall results have been excellently good for the team as a whole. Amidst several aspects that are being talked about recently, one that also has drawn the attention of some is that of the goalkeeper’s choice that the team is making during the matches so far this season. Arteta has his say with regard to this matter involving the shotstoppers.

Mistakes are pretty much evident to occur, says Arteta

Fabrizio Romano via his official revelation let everyone know as to what Arteta had to say with regard to his goalkeeper’s choice during the past few games. The manager following Raya’s mistake in between the sticks changed the goalkeeper and brought in Aaron Ramsdale. He explained his change by saying,”“Mistakes happen in football”.“That is the pressure of playing at a big club. You have to win and you have to be at your best and you have someone next to you that’s pushing you”.

The Arsenal manager thus made it very clear that pressure is a major part of big games and it can certainly take a toll on the performances of a player. The change that he made as a result is pretty much done in a respectable manner and it’s not meant to demoralise the Spaniard goalkeeper.

Raya who was born in 1995 began his senior career with Blackburn wherein he was loaned to Southport in 2014 at the age of 19. He made a return to Blackburn in 2015 and played for four more years at the club. He left for Brentford in 2019. After having made 161 appearances for the club until 2023 he made a loaned move to Arsenal recently in August 2023. He has played 7 matches for the club so far across all competitions. It remains to be seen as to how well he performs for the gunners in the times to come.
