Manchester United is no longer willing to get Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid
Manchester United has apparently opted to drop their pursuit of Joao Felix, an offensive player who is unhappy at Atletico Madrid.
Reports from Sky Sports indicate that Atletico Madrid has made a bid for Manchester United to loan Joao Felix. However, the Red Devils are unwilling to pay the loan price said to have been demanded for his services.
The asking price that Atletico Madrid has reportedly set itself is not mentioned in the Sky Sports article. But it seems the Spanish giants are demanding a hefty sum. To bring the player in on loan for the rest of the season, Manchester United is only willing to give £3.5 million.
The 23-year-old has not been able to cement a starting role with the Spanish side, and he has appeared in just six league games. Nevertheless, the Portugal international has scored four goals in the league and shone for his country in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Since losing Cristiano Ronaldo, it is obvious that Manchester United needs to strengthen their offensive. And Felix, another countryman, would have been a solid addition to the Red Devils. Manchester United had even been mentioned as the team most likely to recruit the teenager, according to recent rumours.
The transfer rumours about the 23-year-old to the Premier League have been circulating for weeks. It remains to be seen whether he will be able to sign with an English team before the transfer season ends in January.
As of right now, Marcus Rashford is Manchester United’s lone reliable goal scorer. In addition, it will be exciting to watch whether they are able to sign another attacker before the January window shuts.
Currently vying for a spot in the top four, the Red Devils will need to strengthen their roster if they want to make the Champions League. Spurs, Liverpool, and Chelsea are just a few of the clubs who are still fighting for a playoff spot. Because of this, Manchester United simply cannot afford to take any chances at this time.
The chances of Atletico Madrid letting Felix go for Manchester United at a bargain price are limited. It’s safe to suppose the Red Devils will have to shift their focus somewhere shortly. However, they are still on the lookout for potential assailants like Mohammed Kudus.
