Liverpool Transfer News: Atletico Madrid want Naby Keita

Liverpool Transfer News: Diego Simeone may make some alterations to his roster, including the addition of a new midfielder. Fichajes believes Naby Keita is a target for the Spanish powerhouses after the Argentine coach expressed interest in him.

Naby Keita will prove to be a regrettable investment for Liverpool. The Reds paid RB Leipzig over €60 million to get the Guinean midfielder, but the deal has not worked out. Jurgen Klopp saw improvement from the player in spurts but wanted more overall.

Keita’s time in the midfield was hampered by injuries and he was unable to have a significant influence. He has produced big goals for the team in big games, but Klopp wanted more consistency.

This season has been a failure in every regard, with Keita only managing 129 total appearances across all competitions. So far this season, he has played in just 13 games across all competitions. Liverpool has already chosen not to extend his contract and is prepared to allow the €60 million man to go on a free transfer.

During the summer, when he has more flexibility, Keita will consider his choices. Teams will be hesitant of paying his present contract and will instead try to offer him more favourable conditions, given his history of injuries. Several teams in Italy and Germany, notably his previous team RB Leipzig, have shown interest.

Liverpool Transfer News: Naby Keita, a Guinean midfielder, will be leaving Liverpool for Atletico Madrid on a free transfer this summer

Atletico Madrid is the most recent team to express interest in signing him, however it remains to be seen whether any Premier League clubs are interested. Diego Simeone is still interested in signing a talented midfielder for the next season. The management has already made attempts to bolster the team by adding a more imaginative midfielder.

According to reports out of Spain, Dani Ceballos recently turned down an offer to play for Atletico. His availability on a free transfer, like Keita’s, provides insight into the Roji Blancos’ financial situation and their method of identifying targets.

Managers in Simeone’s position would naturally consider Keita’s injury history this season and before when making such a decision. For a player in his prime, the money involved may make this a good contract, but the Argentine will consider all of his options.

Before the conclusion of the season, Keita will probably make a decision on his future club after weighing his choices. Given Keita’s terrible injury history, a move for the Guinean would resemble a risk for Atletico.
