Liverpool and Manchester United fight for the 28-year-old signing

According to 90min, Manchester United are planning to make a move for Mateo Kovacic this summer. The 28-year-old Chelsea midfielder has reportedly attracted attention from both Liverpool and Manchester United. It’s doubtful, however, that the Blues would let him sign with an opponent.

This season, Manchester United has struggled while facing clubs who press aggressively. And they need a nimble individual who can work in restricted quarters. Erik ten Hag should make a move to sign Kovacic. Yet, Manchester United’s bitter rivals at Liverpool are also in the market for a player like Kovacic.

The Reds’ midfield needs more dynamism, finesse, and coolness. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, for example, have taken substantial steps back, so Kovacic would be a huge improvement. The Croat has the potential to work well with Thiago Alcantara in the middle of the field for Liverpool in the next season.
