Former Ajax winger Andy van der Meijde compared Everton and Leeds United target Noa Lang to Zlatan Ibrahimovic for fighting with his teammates in the Bruge derby.
The 43-year-old compared Lang’s off-field issues to those of his former colleague Ibrahimovic, who was not hesitant to criticize teammates in training or on the play.
Van der Meijde said: “I’ve had him in the car once. He’s a very sweet boy. He is who he is and it doesn’t matter to him. He doesn’t care about anything; he just does his own thing. It is also a trait because Zlatan Ibrahimovic had that too. I also disapprove of this behavior, let that be clear.”
According to Calciomercato, Everton and Leeds are interested in signing Lang for £25m. Lang’s behaviour has been a huge discussion topic in Belgium and Dutch football, with the striker seeming to develop an ego.
Lang, a talented attacker who might have moved to a larger club by now, is in danger of ruining his name with team infighting and being compared to Ibrahimovic, which nobody desires.
Nevertheless, although Lang has yet to reach Ibrahimovic’s ego levels, the winger needs a humbling, and Club Brugge’s managers may soon have to take serious action against the Everton and Leeds target if this behaviour continues.
Lang is an amazing talent with the potential to go far in football, but if he doesn’t heed Ibrahimovic’s early lessons, he may never realize his full potential. Lang may be able to reach the next level if he can control his behaviour.
