Celtic, led by Ange Postecoglou, are reportedly interested in acquiring Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool, managed by Jurgen Klopp

Celtic, led by Ange Postecoglou, are reportedly interested in acquiring Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool, managed by Jurgen Klopp, during the next summer transfer window.

According to the article, the Scottish Premiership winners are considering Liverpool goalkeeper Kelleher as a long-term replacement for Joe Hart. Reportedly, the 24-year-old goalie has requested a transfer from Liverpool in the upcoming summer of 2023.

Jürgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool, would want to retain the Republic of Ireland international, but he has no intention of doing so against the player’s desire.

Klopp has praised Kelleher as “totally wild” and “the finest No.2 in the world” in an article for The London Evening Standard published in February 2022.

Yet, the club is asking for up to £30 million in transfer fees for Kelleher, having previously won the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

Celtic cannot afford the Reds’ asking price of £30 million, therefore they will have to lower it if they want to sign the 24-year-old Kelleher, according to The Transfer Room.

Caoimhin Kelleher is a player Celtic would want to add to their squad, but we do not see that happening during the summer transfer window from Liverpool. No way will the Hoops drop thirty million pounds on a single player.

It remains to be seen whether any team is willing to pay Liverpool’s asking price for the player. Kelleher is a solid goalkeeper with room to improve, but he lacks much Premier League experience.

For a 24-year-old, a transfer price of £30 million seems like a lot.
