Barcelona Transfer News: Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has declined for a third time to sign Ruben Neves
Barcelona Transfer News: According to reports, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has declined for a third time to sign Ruben Neves, a Portugal international who now plays for the Wolves.
There have been rumours that Neves will join the Catalan giants when the summer transfer market opens in a few weeks. Barca, on the other hand, is expected to strengthen their team with the addition of a handful of players for the 2023–24 season.
Xavi appears especially focused on the midfield, where Barcelona is now searching for a successor for the ageing Sergio Busquets. This summer might see the departure of the 34-year-old Spanish international, who is in the last months of his contract at Camp Nou.

To bolster their midfield, Neves has been mentioned as a prospective signing for Barcelona. The player has shown interest in moving to Camp Nou in the past. Recent rumours suggest that Xavi isn’t enthusiastic about joining Barca, despite the player’s stated willingness to do so.
The Spanish coach has allegedly turned down the offer three times, saying that Neves doesn’t have the necessary profile for a defensive pivot. It remains to be seen whether Xavi will change his mind about acquiring the highly regarded Wolves midfielder.
The 26-year-old central midfielder has been outstanding for The Wanderers thus far in the 2022–23 season. So far this season, Neves has contributed six goals and one assist for Wolves in all competitions.
He is tied with Daniel Podence (6) for the club lead in goals scored in all competitions. He has logged 3,214 minutes this season, good enough for the third most on the Wolves’ roster.
